I’ve been playing with Oake’s latest EP 47019 since its release back in February. I don’t know about you, but I don’t find dark post-industrial occult to be anything but engrossing. It’s certainly not scary or depressing. After all, without dark there’d be no light.

47019 embraces with a steely warm slap opening up great mysterious caverns of sound which invite and repel. I love when that happens. You probably already have a general idea of the overall sound from the description of Oake but like any general idea, it falls short of the actual thing. The only way to know 47019 is to hear it, through and through, reserving judgment until it goes quiet. While that sounds pretty simple, in reality it’s a rare occurrence.
